Biopsy Procedures: Stereotactic Core Biopsy

What is a stereotactic core biopsy?

This procedure uses mammography imaging to locate an area of abnormal tissue, which is then removed and tested for cancerous cells. To determine the exact location of the abnormal area, physicians use specialized imaging equipment to locate a specific coordinate of where the area is within the breast.
