Subsequent Benign Finding
What is a "Subsequent Benign Finding"?
A subsequent benign finding is when a positive initial/final assessment is followed by another assessment in which the results were found to be benign (non-cancerous).
What performance measures account for a subsequent benign finding in their calculations?
Subsequent benign findings are accounted for in false-positive calculations. A false-positive result means that a patient had a positive initial/final assessment, but no known tissue diagnosis of cancer was made within one year of the positive examination.
Where are terms relating to a subsequent benign finding in the Mammologix Medical Outcomes Audit?
In Mammologix's Medical Outcomes Audit, several performance measures account for a subsequent benign finding. The measures calculated for asymptomatic, symptomatic, and aggregate mammograms include:
- FP1 - Number of False-Positives - Based Upon a Subsequent Reported Benign Finding
- FP2 - Number of False-Positives - Based Upon a Subsequent Reported Benign Finding
- FP3 - Number of False-Positives - Based Upon a Subsequent Reported Benign Finding
