What are the stats of women having mammograms in the United States?

The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is a rich source of data for researchers, teachers, and students who want to perform data analysis. There are free, downloadable data files available for public use and more sophisticated data sets for researchers from the Research Data Center (RDC).

Data from the CDC's FastStats mammography homepage reports the percentage of women aged 40 and over who had a mammogram within the past 2 years: 66.7% (2018). A table breaking out selected characteristics among women aged 40 or over is also available spanning from 1987 to 2019.

According to the FDA's MQSA National Statistics Reports, there are a total of 38.5 million annual mammograms performed (2021), with the CDC reporting that 17.3 million physician office visits resulted in mammograms being ordered each year.
